Candle care
-
Cut the wick
Each time you burn, make sure to cut the wick 1/4 inches to prevent soot from forming. Soot is the black build up of carbon that often create black smoke. It prevents your candle from burning evenly. Cutting the wick allows for a cleaner, longer burn.
-
Burn for 1-4 hours
Be sure that your candle burns all the way to the side of the glass jar. This will promote even burns. Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours. Burning a candle for more than 4 hours will result in “mushrooming” of the wick, making it unstable for future use.
-
Avoid drafts and sunlight
When lit, keep your candle away from drafty environments. This will prevent chances of the flame spreading. Room temperature is ideal for candle storage. Keeping your candle away from sunlight will help maintain the quality of the candle.
-
Keep away from children/pets
Lit candles are a safety hazard when near children or pets. Burn your candles in an environment that prevents potential hazardous situations to occur.
-
Keep on a flat surface
Burning candles on a flat, fire proof surface will allow for a more even burn. This will also allow for candles to harden properly after burning.
-
Never leave unattended
Lit candles can be hazardous if they are left unattended. When you plan to leave the area in which your candle is burning, be sure to put it out beforehand.
